Thai police is very strict

This is something nobody wants to experience and that’s why we point out! Due to this, you must have a valid motorcycle or scooter driver’s license. Be aware, the Thai police are very strict and follow up the traffic law. If you plan to rent or drive a scooter you should follow the rules same as you follow the rules in your home country. First of all, it’s very important for your own safety. In the unlikely event, that you are involved having an accident. You need to have a valid motorbike or scooter driver’s license. Finally, you can end up at the hospital. Make sure you have a valid driver’s license and your international driver’s license. Therefore, you will not get in trouble and you can go on a trip without negativity!

A1: Lightweight motorcycles, with 110 cc or 125 cc, carry driver and 1 passenger, power max 11 kW. In Phuket, Thailand the police don’t accept.

Honda Scoopy 110cc, Yamaha Fino 110cc, Honda Click 110cc, Honda Click 125cc, Yamaha Grand Filano 125cc.

A2: Lightweight motorcycles, with 150 cc, carry driver and 1 passenger, power max 35kW. In Phuket, Thailand the police don’t accept.

Honda Pcx 150cc, Yamaha Aerox 155cc.

A: All motorcycles, with 150 cc or larger cc, carry driver and 1 passenger  with a capacity of 35 kW or higher. In Phuket, Thailand the police accept.

Honda Forza 300cc, Yamaha XMAX 300cc, Honda Forza 350cc.

 

–      an International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driver’s License (IDL) Thai police accept only category A.  All other categories the police don’t accept.

Foreigners holding a valid driver’s license of the 10 ASEAN member countries can use their national driver’s license in the nine other countries without the need to obtain an IDP. These countries are Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines.
